Britons turning into a nation of filmgoers. Cinema attendances are up to their highest levels ever. But if only the quality matched the quantity. All the success came to the mainstream multiplex and the smaller art-house and repertory cinemas have been closing down left right and centre.
Cinemas such as The Everyman in Hampstead has gone and the Lumiere is about to become a hotel. Meanwhile, the Odeon Leicester Square has had a welcome facelift both internally and externally, from outside we get a classic art deco look and inside its all fake leopard skin chairs and kitsch.
I prefer small cinemas to the enormous multiplexes. They have specific climate wih cozy atmosphere, never corowded, great for romantic date.:)
